AVIEN and AVIEWS have merged!

As of 14th April 2008 the separate organizations formerly known as AVIEN (Anti Virus Information Exchange Network) and AVIEWS (Anti Virus Information and Early Warning System) have been consolidated into a single organization which retains the name AVIEN but is, to all intents and purposes, a new organization.

All members in good standing of both AVIEN and AVIEWS automatically became members of the new organization, including:

  • those who were formerly full members of AVIEN as well as of AVIEWS
  • those who were formerly members of AVIEWS only.

Over the next few months there will be a consolidation of all the old resources, websites and lists under the single entity of http://avien.net which shall become the official website of the new AVIEN organization.

Since its inception in the fall of 2000, AVIEN has created and operated one of the largest independent networks of anti-malware experts in the world. Initially the group was only open to a select group, with strict rules governing entry, including an exclusion to all vendors of anti-malware solutions. In mid 2002, AVIEN spawned a sister group known as AVIEWS , which was open to all interested parties.

AVIEN is an international on-line community dedicated to a cooperative, grassroots information sharing effort to reduce the impact of malicious code (viruses, worms, Trojan Horses, Spyware) and other related vulnerabilities.

AVIEN members represent the best-protected large organizations in the world, and millions of users. When they talk, security vendors listen: so should you. Our members also represent nearly all the major vendors in the anti-virus research community, as well as many other researchers and companies, and include many top experts.
